One of the corollary things that caught my attention was a bit of riparian revegetation going on alongside one of the culverts which has been "doctored" to assist the passage of fish in Splitters Creek -- some trees have been planted in a "bare" area beside the road that crosses the culvert, and it was encouraging to find out that, with equipment and what-not supplied by BMRG/Landcare, a local land-owner has accepted responsibility for the care & nurture of these trees until they are fully established. We need to see many more landowners "getting involved" at the personal level in sustainability/environmental initiatives like this, and this is one area we are about to embark upon at Kolan Shire Landcare. Let's face it, planting trees and caring for them initially is going to be financially rewarding for landowners, once any 'Carbon Trading Scheme' has been decided upon and implemented. Here's hoping.
