- Reef Rescue

The Burnett Catchment Care Association BCCA are partners in the ‘Burnett Mary Reef Partnership’, involved in the delivery of incentives to graziers who wish to improve their properties and property management in ways that improve production and catchment health. The incentives are administered by the Burnett Mary Regional Group with funding provided from the Reef Rescue package which is a component of the Federal Government’s Caring for our Country initiative.

Reef Rescue is a key element of the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country initiative, initially funded for $2.25 billion over five years, to restore the health of Australia’s environment and build on improved land management practices. It represents a new, coordinated approach to environmental management in Australia built on transparent and consistent national targets. Reef Rescue’s objective is to improve the water quality of the Great Barrier Reef lagoon by providing land holders with assistance to improve land management that reduce nutrient, pesticide and sediment run-off from agricultural land.

The Burnett Catchment Care Association, the Burnett Mary Regional Group, and the Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee have been working together to develop frameworks that will deliver incentives to graziers.

They are a part of the Burnett Mary Reef Partnership which includes:

We participated in the 08/09 programme and were very pleased with the results and are very interested in participating again. Do we need to submit the project immediately or is there an applicatication form that we need to complete first?

Hi Russ

The criteria is very similar to last year. The first step is for you to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), which needs to be completed by the 4th Sept (this Friday). You can print one from the website, and fax it back to the Mundubbera office.

Kind Regards
Leeanne
